At Buffalo Bread House, I believe that good bread should be shared, not sold.
My donation-based micro bakery exists to offer something simple and rare: warm, fresh-milled, handmade sourdough — freely given to anyone who needs or wants it!
This isn’t a business. It’s a gesture.
A quiet invitation to take what you need, and leave what you can.
Why I Bake
This project was born at a time when I knew I wanted to give something real to my community — something that felt like me. And food has always been my love language.
I’ve spent years selling baked goods, but the joy was never in the transaction — it was in the sharing.
The Bread Itself
Every loaf is made from flour I mill by hand using carefully sourced organic ancient grains — einkorn, spelt, and yecora rojo. These grains are rich in nutrients, deeply flavorful, and easier to digest than modern wheat. They’ve been around for centuries — and they’re making a comeback because people are waking up to what real food tastes like.
This is bread the way it used to be:
Warm. Honest. Hearty. Nourishing from the inside out.
What I Believe
That bread should be accessible, not exclusive.
That giving without expectation is powerful.
That feeding people is a form of love.
That teaching others to give is just as important as the gift.
That community care is real work, and we all have something to offer.
What You’re Supporting
By donating, sponsoring a bread drop, or simply spreading the word, you’re helping bring this mission to life.
You’re helping a neighbor on a fixed income find accessibility and comfort through wholesome bread.
You’re helping a busy mom grab a loaf without budgeting for it.
You’re proving that Buffalo truly is ‘The City Of Good Neighbors’
-
Loaves are stocked once a week (usually Saturdays) in our little greenhouse micro bakery in Akron, NY.
We post weekly updates on Instagram @buffalobreadhouse with the day’s offerings, times, and anything extra you might find in the shed (cookies, seasonal loaves, etc.).
-
Not at all. This is a donation-based bread project and there are no prices.
You’re welcome to give what you can, but you’re just as welcome to take a loaf freely. The bread is a gift, no strings attached
-
Absolutely — and I’d love that!
Sponsoring a bread drop helps cover the cost of flour, baking supplies, packaging, and extras like cookies or seasonal loaves.
Sponsors get a shoutout on all packaging and on Instagram, plus the joy of knowing you helped feed neighbors directly.
